Hey guys, I'm sure this has been asked a lot but I just bought a Keich and I'm wondering if I made a mistake. Pictures should be attached.

In a first approach it seems to be a juvenile Keich.

But Picture is not enlargeable (necessary for close looks to matrix and bones) and a little bit blurry - better ones are needed to tell if it is "OK" or not...

Sorry can’t say your photo  is very out of focus and dark. Just a thought for your future buys “try before you buy” and post on the forum first and get some advice and then make your mind up. It works very well this way round.

looking forward to seeing some better pictures .

It does looks like a Keichousaurus, a location may help in identifying and some clearer/closer photos so that we can see the surface detail of the specimen.

I do however agree that parts of it appear to have been painted. This is particularly obvious in the toes and skull.

Edit: In fact the body also looks painted

I think this is possibly real, with some definite paint touch ups.

Toes look completely painted on, to me.

Some paint on the high areas of the rest as well.

I think this may have just been a poorly prepped individual.

Head looks out of proportion, bones are vague and some also out of proportion. I would say a lot has been reworked or faked. The basic form looks OK.

Compare to a 100% real Keich.

The skulls on the juvenile specimens seem to be larger in general, so I don't think that is an issue.

This looks like a genuine Keich. But there's likely restoration, especially on the skull.

Looking forward to meeting my fellow Singaporean collectors! Do PM me if you are a Singaporean, or an overseas fossil-collector coming here for a holiday!

That is better thanks Tim. A size scale would really help too. I think it will probably be  5 to 6 cms in size . It is still hard to say as we making judgments from a blurry photograph but I think the same as Tim and Andy real but with enhanced paint work on the feet and skull.

Seller says matrix is 8cm by 5.5 cm.

First of all,

I’d like to thank everyone for replying to me. I feel like an idiot, but I’m glad to know thanks to you guys that this may in fact be Atleast a partially real specimen. I’ve also attached another photo from the listing. Thanks guys! Already love this forum!

Don't worry, BonuFrailman, it is a genuine Keichousaurus.  It is a baby which typically has shorter neck and a bigger head than an adult.  This specimen is a typical acid and mechanically prepped one.   It has to be prepped in this way as it is a hard slab and the locals have no sophisticated tools to prep it.  There might be or might not be painting on the head and digits, it could not be told from the pictures as some bones might appear to be darkened like painted for acid prepped individuals.  I tend to think that it is not painted though.

Take a look of the unprepped ones below for comparison.
