I can't help, but was just watching a pre-recorded video from NOAA's Okeanos Explorer dive this last weekend. There were modern fish that very much resembled your specimen in the second photo. Interestingly, one such was mimicking bamboo coral on a mud volcano at a depth of around 2100 meters. The link to the video I was watching wasn't the same this morning, so I couldn't go back and get the name of the fish.  If I come across it on the site, I will make note. The distinguishing feature of this particular fish that made it stand out from others seen with a similar elongated body style was the tail fin.
