sTamprockcoin
Hi Everyone, Now that RL is back to some measure of stability I'm exploring. Pa recently reworked an unstable road cut here in Blair county and some interesting material has weathered from the very soft Ridegely Member at the top of the Old Port Formation [Devonian]. With spring coming late I've located several other exposures of this layer and am excited because it is so easy to work (get the sandstone matrix wet and you can rub it off with your fingers!) I posted some unknowns over in the ID Help Section.

sTamprockcoin
As far as I can figure out they are the molds of crinoid "root masses. But I've had little luck getting a definitive ID!
sTamprockcoin
Here's a few more from a 2nd stop at the same spot. So convenient that it's right on my way home from work! 1
Tidgy's Dad
Those are really great finds! Love the brachiopods but the coral and gastropod are amazing too!
KimTexan
Nice finds. I like the gastropods the best. The crinoid pieces look very interesting. Maybe they have been mineralized or something. I have not seen any that look quite like that before. At least I assume they are crinoid. Maybe they are just a different variety than where I have found them before. Â Is that beekite on the last gastropod? It looks like it, but I can't tell for sure. If so very cool!

sTamprockcoin
I'm assuming its a gastropod. These spifers are around 1 inch long.sorry for forgetting the ruler.

sTamprockcoin
Yes and its even more obvious on some of my previously posted pics. If the sun ever comes out I'll do some macro photography of some.
