Prepping Pulalius

Uncle Siphuncle

Recommended Posts

Step by step prep of a Pulalius crab from the Lincoln Creek Fm of WA State.  I obtained this one in trade 5+/- years ago from forum member DLB, and sat on it till now.  Glad I kept it.  Also glad I have no more time consuming crabs to prep!  Next I’ll try my hand at a few Black Cat Mountain trilobites.

Dan,  How much prep time between those photos. (I'm guessing those numbers do not correspond to minutes!!)

If you flip through the pictures really fast it looks like the crab is emerging from sand. Cool!

Hi Ramo

Total prep time was probably 4-5 hours, half hour at a time, strung over 2 weeks of lunch hours.  This was a fast one.

Yeah this was the most un-sticky one I’ve worked with.  The split left kind of a funny ledge, and the legs are a bit fragile, so I stopped where I did.  Same deal with the claws.  They looked like they wanted to self detonate, so I opted not to get too ambitious about exposing the front sides.
