Found in creek in Southeastern Illinois.  Has a rattle so there's something loose inside.0430181944d-1.thumb.jpg.496f018d0397308c15abc5089876d619.jpg0430181942c-1.thumb.jpg.2720e1298a8467778f8dbe598a52fcd3.jpg0430181942a-1.thumb.jpg.714957097379b829fa18793e40eb3753.jpg0430181944c-1.jpg.4e3252bf45eb1bedb00946bcff3e427e.jpg0430181948a-1.thumb.jpg.99b3a6e36b2c9d9205a532d4ea131875.jpg0430181949.thumb.jpg.f89b01e326e15ead10593cc6e9b4387d.jpg0430181948b.thumb.jpg.0f6205e4cd0c9d327348332f07e9f0c1.jpg0430181950a-1.thumb.jpg.e9ca534560b8c1335cf9a7812849753f.jpg0430181954-1.thumb.jpg.4b77b28a284458a1a1dc5756abacda18.jpg0430181954a-1.jpg.2d241b1e0c9f0a6551d197d925635af5.jpg

I think this looks like a pseudofossil, or a rock that resembles a fossil. But let the experts give their opinions.

I looks to me an  iron concretion that happens to have a suggestive shape of a claw.

I see no blood grooves and distinct features that point to it being a claw. And it doesn't have the features of a tooth either, I am not an expert on this but as bone guy said, it seems like a pseudo fossil so to me it isn't a tooth or a claw.

Life started in the ocean. And so did my interest in fossils;).

Not a fossil, but a suggestively shaped rock.

@Hawkey Welcome to The Fossil Forum!!!

Though you may have lucked out on this one, don't despair. There are many fossil locations in Illinois where you have a high chance of finding good fossils!!!

Happy hunting!
