Appears to be a bone fragment with air cells found in the Peace River. I was guessing skull fragment but would appreciate an expert opinion.

Yes, that's a skull fragment.

 

I'm not too familiar with the fauna you can find there, but if I found that here I would say it's from a big mammal (like Mammoth).

They have relatively thin skulls with those big air pockets you see on the inside, to keep the weight of the big skull down :)

Bison have this tessellated structure too.

We found a nice chunk of mammoth tooth in the same area. Thank you!!!
