greel
Here is a fossil my son found in the Wando formation near Summerville, SC a couple years ago. I've always thought that it may be a sloth tooth, but having never had the fortune of digging any myself could not be certain. I have read (Additions to the Pleistocene mammal faunas of South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia) that Megalonyx jeffersonii has been found in this formation. It is rather worn as most of the teeth we found in this layer. A positive ID would boost my son's appreciation for this fossil, and my complaints that "he always finds the good stuff"! -greel
