JustPlainPetrified Posted May 11, 2018 Share Posted May 11, 2018 It has been two years since I last went on a fossil hunt along the Bow River. Permission from landowners is a must but there is also lots of public land affords river access. Lots of climbing. 250 feet of elevation might not seem like much but it sure takes its toll when you load a large partial ammonite into your pack. Two trip; the second one just to make sure there wasn't a piece in the water that I could see. I actually climbed high to an exposed concretion and, knowing it wasn't a fossil, I broke it and watched it bounce and plunge into the river. Now I know just how far out the rest of this fossil will be. Oh, for a small boat when low water returns. 2 Link to post Share on other sites

Oh, I'd say very possible and likely get a few more once the river is lower. Problem is getting there. Too far to go for me more than once a year and I've done my bit.
