TonyC
This past weekend I was at Folly Beach SC (near Charleston). I posted a picture of my finds earlier but added a few more specimens. I'm hoping to get some assistance identifying what shark species these teeth belonged to. The smaller ones are a mix but I'm most interested in the teeth within the white boxes. I'm pretty sure that the Sand Tiger teeth are indeed that. The top 2 Tiger Shark teeth are pretty obvious. Is the bottom tooth a Tiger Shark or perhaps a Thresher Shark? What I'm most unsure of are the Great White teeth. I'm confident that the top 2 are indeed Great White teeth. What about the 4 bottom ones? As a size reference the largest Tiger Shark tooth is 27mm across and 20mm in height.
Darktooth
Some close up pics would help but some of the teeth you thought are GW are bullshark#3and#5 plus the 3rd tooth in the tiger shark row is indeed a tiger shark just a different species from the top two. I like Trilo-butts and I cannot lie.
Miocene_Mason
I agree, some for your great whites are not great whites, and the third tiger shark is a Physogaleus contortus. If you show a side view of the vertebra I can tell you whether it’s lamnid or not. “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason
sixgill pete
To get more people to look at an I.D. request post it is best to post it in the Fossil I.D. forum, not the General Fossil Discusion forum. Also good crisp clear pictures from all angles should be included. And it is best to do it tooth by tooth not as a group.
