Dino bone from Brook Bay, Isle of Wight

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

This is my first post so please excuse any errors.

I found this fossil in Brook Bay on the Isle of Wight last year. I would really appreciate some help in identifying it. Someone who runs a fossil shop there suggested it could be part of the jaw of a lepidotes? Any info gratefully received.5afd663ee8dd9_IMG_68622.thumb.jpg.c12a192c3d7b134de15eab96c263bb6d.jpg5afd665d001c6_IMG_68632.thumb.jpg.1c9446b3574b665dc2208d92ae1a2f26.jpg

Diggler...

Welcome to The Fossil Forum.  Your specimen definitely has the look of Lepidotes, a semionotid fish from the Jurassic and Cretaceous of Europe and South America. Nice find!
