My small collection

Recommended Posts

My wife and I took a trip to the Trammel Fossil Park just outside of Cincinnati, Ohio, a couple of years ago. Prior to this visit, I had no fossils. Now, I have these few. Hope you enjoy.

Up first, what I am assuming is a brachiopod, but I could be wrong.

Next, another brachiopod.

I also found some (I assume) coral.

And last, I found this rock. It is just full of fossils inside of it. This may be my favorite just because of the number of fossils in it!

Thanks for taking a look! I know it's not much, but it's a start.

The big brachiopod at the top looks to be a strophomened like Rafinesquina.

There is also one next to it and the photos below it show another type of brachiopod still mostly buried in the rock.

I think this is Platystrophia.

And the 'coral'  is actually the bryozoan Parvohallopora, I think.

Nice finds! :)

I looked up Parvohallopora, and I think it's P. ramosa.

However, thank you for giving me a start to researching what it is. I found a website dedicated to the fossil plants found in the Cincinnati area. That's going to help me a bunch!

In the future, I'm sure it will be.

But all your fossils above are animals.

Oops! I knew that. :doh!:

Upon further looking at the site, it's about the fossils of the Ordovician era.
