Hi all,

Found these oddballs at Cap-Blanc-Nez, France. So Cretaceous in age.

What do you think they are? I'm not even sure that they are anything, they might just be weird geologic formations.

Looking forward to hearing your opinion.

Thanks in advance,

Max

I agree with ynot, except for the first one.

If it were Carboniferous I'd be suggesting something along the lines of Sigillaria , but here, i'm not sure, but it looks like a fossil to me.

They all look like metamorphic rocks that have tumbled a long distance.

Indeed what I thought too, but just wanted to check to make sure. Only the first one does seem to be of organic origin. Thanks

The first one is the only one that looked remotely possible to be from a fossil. Wonder what it could be

And yeah the others are then just rocks. Thanks

I agree first one is a fossil with it's regular pattern of indentions. I like what @Tidgy's Dad said but the problem of course, is time period.

We've talked about ship's ballast being a concern for beach finds, making it difficult to say about possible exotics.

The first one looks like a worn piece of sponge such as Ventriculites

That makes sense because the individual indentions are elongated.

@TqB that does seem to fit well, thanks a lot Tarquin! A very new piece to my collection. Pretty cool (IMO:)

And also thanks to @ynot, @Tidgy's Dad and @Innocentx for your help and confirmations!
