sixgill pete
MHello everyone. The 25th annual Aurora Fossil Festival is in the books, and a great time was had by all. Besides being able to see some old friends and acquaintances from the forum ( @MikeR @Plax @SailingAlongToo @Boesse @Al Dente @Jniederkorn @Daleksec along with the young man @powelli1 and I'm sure I've missed a few) I also was privileged to finally meet our own @FossilDAWG. Lots of great fossils on display. The three Don's (Plax, myself and FossilDawg) Some shots of mine and plax's displays. Miocene_Mason
I’m sad I couldn’t get there this year, glad the forums here to take me on a virtual tour though Nice displays there! “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason

MikeR
Hi Don Good meeting up with everyone again this year. A few pictures below. I took a lot of pics of your and Plax's stuff but unfortunately not of any individuals. I would have loved to have taken a pic of Dr. Ward in his umbrella hat. Here is the world famous (or is it infamous and notorious) Dr. Ward in his umbrella hat. Unfortunately, it's not a straight on angle but it'll do. It was great seeing everyone at the festival. hrguy54
Are any of the displays non-local, regional? Like from Ohio or Kansas?
Plax
there are folks with fossils from all over the world but many of them are exclusively from the east coast or a specific region such as the Carolinas. Someone suggested more displays of Pennsuylvania fossils, for instance, because a lot of the tourists at the festival are from there or the NE region at least. I don't know a lot about nautiloids but I do know Cenozoic specimens from NC and that complete are rare. I'm assuming those are Eocene.
