My son found this in Oneonta NY and was wondering if anyone knows what kind of mussel this could be?

Not certain, but Palaeoneilo, perhaps?

Welcome to the forum from Syracuse New York! I am not familiar with the Oneonta area. Do you know what formation or time period the fossil was found? That would help with ID.

@Darktooth  I think the area is Devonian. 

 

I think Modiomorpha concentrica may be a better match.  :unsure: 

Although, there are several others that may be close as well.
