Looks like a hematite concretion. Not fossil as far as I can tell.

Welcome to the forum.

 

You might have to give a nearby town or the county the creek is in to narrow down what formation and time period it came from.

They may be a concretions with high iron content, with the pattern that is called "crocodile skin" or "reptile skin".
