caldigger
My latest find, a beautiful calico colored C. hastalis from "the hills on the other side". To my surprise, I didn't even see it pop out and only discovered it as I was sweeping loose matrix aside. Wahoo! A nice 2 5/16" whopper. This made my day. The lingual side almost looks like an impressionist painting.

Bone guy
Goodness...this is one of the best color patterns I have EVER seen on a shark tooth. Maybe this is one of Picasso's scrapped projects.

Macrophyseter
Jeez, how often are you going to Ant Hill these days? If you're a fossil nut from Palos Verdes, San Pedro, Redondo Beach, or Torrance, feel free to shoot me a PM!

That was likely the last time until it cools off in the Fall. It gets crazy hot over there during Summer months.

Shellseeker
That's a gorgeous tooth.. like a paint brush of fall colors. We cherish the unusual. Your comments about the summer sun are right on.. I once was given the golden opportunity to hunt private land with a couple of younger acquaintance, and they were displaying some gorgeous initial finds. It was August in Florida and the artifacts were about a foot below the current surface. I lasted about 30 minutes. It is one reason why I find river hunting so attractive.
