One of our relatives who ranches in the Porcupine Hills of Southern Alberta, west of Claresholm, found this skull and others in the creek running through the valley floor. Many years since bison roamed this area. From what I can tell it is a Plains Bison (Bison bison bison). Interesting photo so just had to post.

By suggestively shaped rock you probably mean something like this...well, maybe not 'suggestive' but does allow the imagination to wander. Funny guy!

That looks like a nice chunk of iridescent ammonite, to me.

Right there with you.  I remember a lot of the old Hanna Barbera cartoons being rerun on TV growing up.

Did you get a chance to measure from horn tip to horn tip?

I found this and thought you might like it.

What a fantastic find! I'd imagine there are areas in the S. Alberta foothills that would have similar caches...just need to be in the right place at the right time. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

Neat bison noggin!

Every single fossil you see is a miracle set in stone, and should be treated as such.
