PaulLawn
I received these vertebras form a lady that lives in Colonial Beach, Va. and close to George Washington's Birthplace. I was told they are sharks vertebras but I am doubtful. Can someone identify them? I'll post the other vertebrae in the next post.

Calvert Cliff Dweller
They are Cetacean vertebrae. The large one is most likely Whale and the small one is maybe dolphin.
caldigger
Agreed. Look up images of shark verts on the net and you will see they look nothing like these. Sharks have concave centers on both sides.
Miocene_Mason
I third that, second has such a small spinal foramen (not technical term) that I couldn’t imagine it being a whales. I can’t say for the first but definitely cetacean. Nice fossils btw! “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason
ynot
+1 for Cetaceans. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." Macrophyseter
I also agree that these are cetacean vertebra. If you're a fossil nut from Palos Verdes, San Pedro, Redondo Beach, or Torrance, feel free to shoot me a PM!
