Petrified Wood?

Hi everyone!
 

I am new here and found what I think looks like wood but it is rock solid.  I found it this weekend while looking for shark teeth near the beaches in Venice, Florida.

 

I am wondering if it is petrified wood and if anyone has an opinion as to what it might have come from...posting front and back photos of it.  

 

Thank you for any information!  I am so excited to have found it even if it is nothing :-)

Looks more like fossilized bone than wood to me.  Probably not possible to tell what sort of animal it came from, but maybe some of the Florida experts can figure it out?

Bone from something big, I would bet marine mammal but no way to know for sure.

It has a beautiful patina. Throw some wire wrapping on that thing and wear it proud.

Nice piece of bone. I occasionally pick up a shark tooth as I'm collecting them.
