Wollongong Fossil SItes?

Recommended Posts

DanKurek

Hello everyone!

In a weeks time I will be travelling to Wollongong to do some work experience at Wollongong University for a couple days. While I am there, I was thinking of doing some fossicking. I do not plan to go very far from Wollongong (Furthest going is Picton) I am looking for sites that are close to Wollongong. I know fossil wood can be found on beaches around Wollongong and was wondering if there was any specific beaches I should visit? Also heard there is Triassic fish fossils in Picton that I am excited about. :)

Thanks,

Daniel

@@Tidgy's Dad Hi

Thank you. I am really looking forward to the trip. My uncle works at the university and was able to get me some work experience with him. He works in the Intelligent Polymer Research Institute, AIIM Faculty. At the moment he is working with coatings, bio luminescent algae and implants in the human body. (Quite a mix :P)
