Good week of collecting!

Just got back from a week fossil hunting trip in North Yorkshire.  It's fair to say it was pretty productive!

Lots of nodules still need to be popped open!

Lots of lovely nodules!

You're bound to find something nice when you bosh those open.

Good luck! :)

Really neat finds! I think the last picture shows a possible Dactylioceras commune. Good job ;)

Opalised fossils are the best: a wonderful mix between paleontology and mineralogy!

Q. Where do dinosaurs study?

A. At Khaan Academy!...

I have been watching postings from the United Kingdom closely over the last year in anticipation of a visit. After reading your report (great finds!!) I looked up where North Yorkshire is located and was surprised to see it was far from the coast. Most postings of ammonites seem to come from the sea's edge. Were these inland found?

My finds are from around Whitby, which is right at the coast :)

Pretty sure these are from the coast where Whitby is. Were you looking at a map that showed a pin in the geographical center of N. Yorkshire? It's a big county.
