Rogue Embryo
Hello. I found this in Mimico Creek in Toronto, Ontario. Could someone please tell me what it might be? I thought maybe some kind of cephalopod, but really have no idea. Thanks! Camille Edited June 9, 2018 by Kane Topic moved to Fossil ID
Kane
It is quite possible, but the image is a bit on the dark side. Could we see a brighter image just to be sure? ...How to Philosophize with a Hammer

Monica
Hi there! Welcome to the forum from a fellow Mimico Creek hunter! I can see why you suggested cephalopod for your specimen, but the lack of septa along the sides as well as no evidence of the siphuncle through the middle when the ends are viewed makes me think that perhaps it's something else - maybe an infilled burrow? I think I can see a crinoid columnal attached to the side of your specimen in the first picture, too Monica
Tidgy's Dad
Yes, banded, eroded rock with some possible shell fragments for me. Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
Rogue Embryo
Thanks, folks! It's just as helpful to know when you don't have something to write home about ... And greetings to Monica - Mimico Creek is a nice fossil-hunting place - we accessed it via Jeff Healey Park. Cheers, Camille
