Hi all, last post tonight... actually it’s now today! Yikes!!

This is another one from my friends collection that is interesting with the serrated edge and all. Do you think it’s a shark tooth??

Thank you in advance,

Jax

Hi Jax!

Unfortunately, I do not believe that this is a fossils, much less a shark tooth. The shape simply does not resemble a shark tooth in any way, and does not have enamel. The side markings shown appear to not be serrations, but a bunch of notches with inconsistent mark length and size. Still, the megalodon tooth you asked about in another post is amazing!

Edit: Doren (caldigger) suggested a worn ray dental plate, and now I think that that may be it.

If you're a fossil nut from Palos Verdes, San Pedro, Redondo Beach, or Torrance, feel free to shoot me a PM!
