ced0015
A friend and I recently kayaked the Sepulga River in South Alabama and tried our luck at fossil hunting. We ended up with ~40 teeth in 3 hours. Unfortunately, I am not too familiar with the IDs in this area (Eocene, right?). I have some ideas, but would appreciate any input/information (because I am likely wrong). The 6 teeth below are representative of the majority of the haul. Thanks in advance!
The Jersey Devil
The upper left one is a Serratolamna koerti upper anterior, the other two on the row are anterior Striatolamia macrota teeth (likely lowers, especially the larger one). Number 4 looks like a lateral S. koerti. I don't know if there is Cretaceous present there, but number 5 would be an Archaeolamna kopingensis lower lateral if there is Cretaceous present there. Number 6 might be a Physogaleus species. 2 “You must take your opponent into a deep dark forest where 2+2=5, and the path leading out is only wide enough for one.” ― Mikhail Tal
