Fish vertebra - Walton on the Naze, Essex, UK

Hi all,

my wife found this impressive vertebra on the beach at Walton-on-the-Naze this morning. Apart from it being from a bony fish, is there any way of narrowing down the species? It is from the London Clay deposits (Ypresian / early Eocene).

Second to last picture is looking shark-y to me. If it is, not much more ID can be done because the sides are either worn or covered with matrix (I can’t really tell which from the pictures).

It is pretty worn unfortunately. I would be pretty happy just to be able to distinguish between bony fish, shark or ray to be honest!
