Ah, I get it now. I thought you were making the comment about not wanting it Red referring to communism.

Sure, pink, purple, paisley what ever you want.

I never spotted this thread before. I thought is a great idea. Maybe we need to send out Average Dave to find Gorgeous George. :ighappy:

I think the main problem was/is that George could be sent to people who are unsuspecting of this (like stated in Rule #2) and once recieved they maybe just have no interest in participating. Unfortunately not everyone thinks the same.

Maybe next time just send him to people who want this fun little game keep on going. :)

But wasn't the premise of this exercise is that the reciever was not to know it was coming to them?  Hard to know who will continue the journey if they don't know they will get him.

Yes, and I personally think that was the mistake :) Yes, sending George as a suprise is way more fun. But you always never know if someone will continue the journey.

Better would be just to send it to people who actively said they want him and be part of it. Or ask them before, if it's ok to send him and if they can take the pictures and send him to another person. Of course this is not as much fun as it was intended. But with asking first, you're sure it will continue.

I'm also in another Forum and there is something similar going on for several years now (nothing with fossils). It keeps working because you have to put your name on a list with participants. :)

I for one would have no problem sending one to a distant land.

This inspires me to do one of my own. Maybe we can get several critters traveling the world.

It would be a good idea to have a "Paddington" label on it so there is no question as to its purpose. Also a notation to snap a picture of it to post on here.  Perhaps in or by a recognizable landmark place to show how exotic his/her travels are.

I am getting a fun idea in my head. Someone is going to get a fun surprise.

Here is the thing...in order to facilitate room in people's packages, I think we should keep the next critter somewhat small so it can go in smaller boxes and envelopes.

This may encourage it to be sent more often than having a big bulky dino which would require a large box to send.

Agreed?
