Struthiomimus Toe Bone ID Correct

Recommended Posts

I saw this beautiful toe bone for sale and wondered if it's identified correctly, seller calls it a Struthiomimus.  From the Hell Creek Formation of Montana,  2 3/4" long

Boy it is a very beautiful and super preserved bone.   Unfortunately it's not a Struthiomimus and it's not even from a Theropod.  Here is the photo of a Struthie foot from the BHI and the position in question is marked with an arrow.  Very different and it has a small dimple on the dorsal surface I circled.

I believe what is being sold is from a Thescelosaurus,  Digit II phalanx 1.   I have a photo of one in a foot just need to find it.  Stay tuned :D

Wow that was not even close.  Appreciate your quick response.  If you can find the photo would like to see it. Boy it really  worth the effort to post before you bid. Thanks a bunch, I've got a lot to learn and you definitely cannot trust what you see.

Got it , a Thescelosaurus leg and circled the phalanx in question.   Not Struthiomimus but still a great specimen for a Dino collector

Even though I am not huge on dinos, I think your specimen is great looking as well.
