MikeD
Someone brought a bunch of stuff by the house tonight from some unknown section of the San Jacinto River, north of Houston. Mostly a bunch of river polished stuff, petrified wood, red jasper, quartzite, maybe one piece of bone-ish looking stuff (too beat up and polished to tell anything - probably buffalo anyway ), and this thing. It is kind of agate looking and river worn. Not what I would have expected from that area, but a lot of stuff gets carried down the rivers in Texas. I'm thinking some type of coral. It is about 2 1/2 inches long. What do you think?
Traviscounty
I'm gonna go ahead and say it's a fossilized kidney, but I'm not 100% sure. Could you take a couple of more pics with different angles?

amyboone
You can find fossils in the San Jacinto? Boy, my sister is going to be blindsided the next time I go up there! We go horseback riding in the San Jacinto! It will go something like this. Me: Sure, I am up for a ride. Sister: Why are you putting all those hammers and stuff in the saddle bags? Me: Oh, nothing, you never know what you will find you know.
