Nice collection, but I don´t see a Hippuritid ;). Are you hunting in an older formation than Campanian?

Here are some of mine.

From the kimmeridgian :

Radiolitid (only about 3 cm)

Diceras arietinum (with térébratules on it), it is almost entire. The curved hook on the left of the photo is a part of a valve that is missing on the right.

So, are you a lapidarist too?  I love to cut and polish sections of my rudists.

Thanks for sharing! Great variability! So far I have only found Hippuritids and Radiolitids, and one Plagioptychid, in the St. Bartholomä formation.

Not really, I only polish flat surfaces. But I have a friend who makes spheres and another one who makes cabs, often freeform cabs. He has a really good feeling for his rocks.

is that a fish tooth or something of a plant?

Good eye! I don´t know, hopefully its a part of a plant... ;)

There are many similar looking (somewhat triangular and dark) small parts of plants, maybe parts of seeds, in this area.

I have never looked for teeth in this formation and non is known according to literature. But maybe...

Thanks for recognizing the shape, I will tune my eyes!

  • 1 month later...

Considering the finds and the date, 13 was a lucky number for you. :)

You must have quite an eye to be able to tell the difference between rudists and plain rocks!

Thanks, but its not that difficult, just a little bit experience (however, I would no see the teeth, if are there any...)
