ynot
Welcome to TFF! This looks like a rock with mineral veins and some differential weathering. Not a fossil. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." MRfossilMISTER
kinda looks like a fossilized butterfly cocoon to me games are fun, but finding fossil is even better!
Ludwigia
I agree with ynot. Interesting looking structure at any rate. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/
Rockwood
If I might indulge in a bit of speculation. Visitors to the fossil site at mistaken point are instructed to step on the layer of volcanic ash (without tip toeing off the cliff). Could this be volcanic in nature ? Edit: Just noticed the tag. Found in home. Yeah that's a volcanic bomb all right.

abyssunder
I'm in the differential erosion camp, so I guess it might be something close to Boxwork (speleogen) . " We are not separate and independent entities, but like links in a chain, and we could not by any means be what we are without those who went before us and showed us the way.
