Icestar
Another small coral from Michigan/Indiana. It's different from the other ones in that the imprints are really small, and only on that one side. Any idea what kind it is? (3/8)
ynot
Does not look like coral to Me. Can We see the other sides and back? Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Rockwood
At that scale identifiable structure is easily obscured by calcite crystals though.

ynot
Not positive, but I think it is a surface impression. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Rockwood
Less positive. It could even be igneous rock.

Never seen prints like this in igneous rock (vaguely resembles basalt crystallization, but way to small.) Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Icestar
@Rockwood When I get off of work I could try dropping some vinegar on it if that would help.

It will help identify the rock. Please let Us know what happens. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." FossilDAWG
The first photo definitely looks like a coral to me, though it is likely too recrystallized to be IDed with much confidence. A lot of the Silurian rock in that area is dolomite, which will likely not react with acid (vinegar). I am not aware of sources of igneous rock in the area. TqB
!00% coral, but not enough detail to ID much further. Blown up: Tarquin
