Max-fossils Posted August 20, 2018 Share Posted August 20, 2018 To find out whether it's a fossil vert or not, I would suggest trying to do the flame test: approach a lighter (or a match) to the piece to try and burn it. If it really starts to smell bad, then it's modern (the bad smell is due to the collagen still remaining in the bone that is burning up). If pretty much nothing happens, then chances are big that it's a fossil! Otherwise, for ID, as Coco said, it would be good to have a few more pictures from different angles.
