Jacob L
While I was searching on the beach for fossils I found these 2 weird looking objects. The small one almost looks like a piece of skin, with scales. And the other one looks maybe like a small sea urgin inside a stone. Anyone knows if they are fossils? Fossildude19
The first item looks like a siderite nodule. The second may be, but it could also just be a discoloration of the rock. I'm leaning towards the second. 2 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." GeschWhat
+1 for siderite nodule. The second one looks like a clam boring that may be filled with calcite. Lori www.areallycrappystory.com/fossils www.facebook.com/fossilpoo

As what you would see on a dead/dried out sea urchin. I tried taking a picture of it, but the camera of my phone isn't good enough. Jacob "God creates dinosaurs, God destroys dinosaurs. Jacob L
Just now, GeschWhat said: Could it be crystalization that you are seeing? Not completely sure. But what I am seeing is a slightly darker line going from the outside to the inside, with the same space in between them Jacob "God creates dinosaurs, God destroys dinosaurs. Fossildude19
Without better pictures, it is mere conjecture. Personally, if I have to look that hard to see a fossil, it really isn't of interest, to me. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." It's not that hard to see but the camera just won't pick it up Jacob "God creates dinosaurs, God destroys dinosaurs. God creates Man, Man destroys god. It's easier on the eyes

You can then crop the picture. Also, as Pete said, a solid color background will help. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough."
