fossilized6s
Just wanted to share the beauty of this recent carboniferous find. I just sliced this yesterday. It still needs some work and i need to finish the other half, but take a look at the vascular cell structures of this fern tree (psaronius sp.). There is pyrite throughtout this piece, giving it a real luster (it's hard to see in the pictures). ~Charlie~ "There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why.....i dream of things that never were, and ask why not?" ~RFK ->Get your Mosasaur print ->How to spot a fake Trilobite ->How to identify a CONCRETION from a DINOSAUR EGG
Ludwigia
Nice one! That'll make for a great piece once it's polished. Greetings from the Lake of Constance. Roger http://www.steinkern.de/

Miocene_Mason
Pretty specimen! “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason
paleoflor
Very nice and interesting specimen, with beautiful colouration. How did you arrive at Psaronius as ID, though? Are you proposing psaroniaceae root mantle based on the spherical shapes? They vaguely remind me of fungal attack, which occurs quite commonly in a variety of petrified woods. Searching for green in the dark grey.

This is from Late Carboniferous.
