Found my best Psaronius sp.

Just wanted to share the beauty of this recent carboniferous find. I just sliced this yesterday. It still needs some work and i need to finish the other half, but take a look at the vascular cell structures of this fern tree (psaronius sp.). There is pyrite throughtout this piece, giving it a real luster (it's hard to see in the pictures).

Very nice and interesting specimen, with beautiful colouration. How did you arrive at Psaronius as ID, though? Are you proposing psaroniaceae root mantle based on the spherical shapes? They vaguely remind me of fungal attack, which occurs quite commonly in a variety of petrified woods.

Yes. I based my ID off of the rootlet like structures running through this piece.
