L.S.,

As you can probably tell from the title of this topic, I am looking for information on the lithostratigraphy of the Mesozoic of Madagascar. Specifically, I would like to have an up-to-date overview of the terrestrial formations that occur on the island. Can anyone recommend me a good resource, say a recent review paper? Based on bits and bobs I read in more recent papers, it appears that the stratigraphy book I have now (Besairie and Collignon 1971, Géologie de Madagascar: Las terrains sédimentaires) is somewhat outdated...

Thanks for your help!

Tim

This one looks good:

Coffin, M.F., & Rabinowitz, P.D.1988

Evolution of the conjugate East African-Madagascan margins and the western Somali Basin.

Geological Society of America Special Paper, 226:1-78  PDF LINK

Google Scholar is another good tool for searching.  There are 316 publications that cited Besairie & Collignon 1971

I agree, searching for “mesozoic,” “stratigraphy,” and “Madagascar” using Google Scholar ( https://scholar.google.com/) is a good way to start. In addition to the bibliographic information, Google Scholar will often indicate where a person can find a copy of the PDF file that can be downloaded for free. Also, it often profitable to search Researchgate ( https://www.researchgate.net/ ) and Google Advance search using either "https://www.academia.edu" or " https://www.researchgate.net/ " in the "site or domain" space at https://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en . With Google Advanced, what a person searches for also can be filtered for PDF files using the "file type" menu.

Yours,
