Is it a leaf?

Here's another one from Cincinnati, do you think this is plant matter?  Possibly a leaf?

Thank you!

Is the structure convex/concave or flat? Not like any plant fossil I have seen before.

Searching for green in the dark grey.

This looks like a fish scale to me, ... but I wouldn't rule out a bivalve or brachiopod piece.

The matrix of this specimen looks similar to that of the specimen you show in this thread. Do both come from the same locality? The other piece would then suggest a marine environment.

I could be wrong, but can it be a regenerated brachiopod valve after injury?

Looks like fish scale?  Not sure.  My question is:   what are all the little white marks on the fossil?

Remnants of the blood vessels that fed it during growth. (I think)

Now that would be something!

Perhaps the comparative image says what I think. :)
