JessieDSC821
Hello! We took a short trip to Summerville yesterday & had a good haul. This is the item we are most interested in knowing more about if anyone can help. Thanks!
ynot
Welcome to TFF! Would like to see more views of this tooth. Could be a small cetatean tooth or a small mammal canine. JessieDSC821
Thanks ynot! How are these? Found a bunch of sharks teeth and some vertebrae as well in the same location. Was our first time there. Beyond cool! Will be back soon when the mosquitoes aren’t out in full force & the size of hummingbirds.
ynot
I am pretty sure it is a small cetacean (dolphin) Wonder what @Harry Pristis will think. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." We have had incessant lately. Once we were out of there and closer to the beach we were good to go. Come to Charleston! #1 city in America after all. Lots of stuff to see here. Historic, Prehistoric & even some current stuff too! *Pack some OFF if you’re planning to visit Chandler Bridge...just in case.
Harry Pristis
It appears to me to be a small carnivoran canine . . . a land mammal, perhaps a bobcat. http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest

I was not sure about it, thought it might be something like that. Wish I was more familiar with terrestrial mammal teeth. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." JessieDSC821
Thanks for the help! Was comparing it to other dolphin teeth found in and around the formation and I just couldn’t be sure. Wasn’t even thinking mammal!
