What is this piece ?

Hello, I'm new here. Somebody suggested this site to me for help so here it goes.

I found this item about 6-7 years ago in a lake while diving for remains. I ended up finding this. (buried under the sand)

I have always wondered what it belonged to, and on another site I posted it nobody really

had a clue either. It went from bear claw, boar to bird, etc... Nobody truly had a clue just idea's

of what it could be. Now I have been really curious about what this actually is. If anyone

has a clue please tell me. I can take more photo's if needed, the hole you see from below, it's not

empty, meaning you can see in it but it's not empty would you put a toothpick in it, only a small

part would go in .

Location found: Italy, lake Bolsena

=> (picture of lake) lago-di-bolsena.jpg

Wildlife of Bolsena does seem to range from small to some medium sized birds... I haven't really come

across to many other bigger animals there.

Also today 15/08/2018 somebody send me this on the other side, this person believes it belongs to a bear

Interesting!

Not my area though, I'm afraid, but I expect some of the vertebrate specialists will be along shortly. :)

I'm thinking more in line with boar tusk.

Most likely modern as well.

Yup. This is a type of tusk.

the only reason i'm hesitating is because the tusks of boars look different from the inside according to the pictures at least that I looked up oo

I agree with caldigger, pig tooth.

A claw would not show the layered ring structure or be hollow.

it has an opening but it's not hollow like if i put a toothpick in it, i can not go far just a tiny bit

A claw would be totally solid, no opening of any type.

Now that i look at it. This is 100% a mammal incisor with the dentin eroded away. The pointy part is the root.

Possible horse incisor.

The "marsican bear" tooth looks to me to be the pig tooth, an incisor.

The other tooth is a horse incisor.

I only see one tooth in this thread.

You may be right, ynot.  In that case, it would be a strange horse.  This enamel extends too far down the tooth for a typical horse, yet I am not accustomed to seeing an infundibulum in suid incisors.  Someone else more familiar with European animals should speak up.
