The Mushroom Whisperer
Hello all, My friend gave me some odd shaped concretions, and I was wondering if anyone has experience preping any like these?

goatinformationist
Resemble peanut and potato crabs from the Permian perhaps par-boiled by proto humans. Or not.

jpc
The nodules at Twin Rivers (i think that's the name) on the Olympic Penninsula look a bit like these and have callianassid shrimps in them.
The Mushroom Whisperer
So, maybe peanut shrimp?
KimTexan
Many, many years ago when I was about 9 we found a bunch of peanut shaped concretions in one of the Virginia or Carolina states. We’d throw them in the fire and they’d pop like a gun shot. They had a hollow core. I image it sent shrapnel type pieces flying.

RJB
These could very well have a fossil inside them. The safest thing to do is try and determine a 'flat' side on them and then dig a hole and try to find a carapace. The big elongated one I doubt has anything? If your super lucky, you will have some crab doubles. Good luck RB
