Strange shaped rock.. or is it?

Hello everybody,

my son just found this out on a farmers field in Denmark. To me it looks like a rock but he in convinced it’s a dinosaur tooth, he is only 4 so I have gone along with it, but it does look very much like a tooth.

So so what do you think, just a strange shaped rock or could something be in it?

Can only upload 2 pics so sorry for that.

Thanks

Hello, and Welcome to the Forum. :)

Unfortunately, I think you have a  tooth shaped chert or flint nodule.

The conchoidal fracturing in your second photo, and the lack of enamel and serrations in the first photo are what lead me to this determination.

Keep looking!

Kind regards,

Hello, and welcome from Morocco! :)

Yes, it's an interesting shaped piece of chert.

Hello again. Thank you both for the reply, it’s a very cool shaped rock then never seen it like that before. What would cause that shape?

This forum is great, right up my street and I am looking forward to learning some things.

As as for the answers you gave I googled them and I would lean towards chert but it also resembles the flint nodule. So I have no idea :P

Thanks again guys

Farmers have spread limestone over their fields for centuries and some of the limestone might have amorphous pieces of flint. Google "Flint Nodule".
