joeb04
Found in about 3 inches of water off Park Point in Duluth, Minnesota. The oblong stone/fossil is 2" x 1.5". Fossilized coral was found nearby, for what that's worth. The radial lines do connect on both sides of the stone/fossil.
Innocentx
Interesting. Could maybe have a side view? I might have thought echinoid, but one too many lines. If you take photos of it dry maybe other details will show if water obscures them. joeb04
Yeah, I'm a novice anyway, but the extra line is what left me without a path to explore. I thought there was less detail dry - but here's a side view and one of it dried.
Innocentx
Now I can see there's a slightly differentiated mass in the center. As for the rest, if this is fossil, coral or otherwise, sometimes very focused photos are necessary. It's too hard to tell here but your efforts are appreciated and I hope someone comes along with a better eye for what this might be. I think it may be fossil simply because it has this center feature on top and bottom. Miocene_Mason
I agree with Herb, looks like a rock. The star shape is coincidental, from mineral veins. 2 “...whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been and are being evolved.” ~ Charles Darwin Happy hunting, Mason
