In places of the screw a bolt or epoxy Be careful with something like this. Rikers are basically cardboard. Screws are liable to pull out of the hole if any weight is introduced to the box. If I was to use D-rings, I would utilize a small bolt and nut combination with wide washers. Stringing a thin picture wire through the back would also work. edit: I just reread what you said and I suggested what you already stated. Ha!
