Spinosaurus hip/pelvis bone images

I'm having a hard time finding any images of anything other than the outside/side view of a spinosaur pelvic bone. I'm trying to see what the bone looks like in general, but all too many times...WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY  too many times I'll spend forever unsuccessfully trying to come across pictures, images, or diagrams that show what a bone looks like from other angles than what you see be looking at the skeleton from generic angles, like this one. In some cases it's not TOO difficult, but even those common bones have areas that you can never see, unless you get totally lucky and happen across it, OR if there's maybe, hopefully some site/database that specifically shows what entire bones look like. I doubt that, but I know there's perfect diagrams floating around on the web, but I can't seem to find any

*im just talking about dinos and other extinct animal bones. I'm sure there's plenty of sites with images of every conceivable angle of every bone from humans and common living animals, but I'm not looking for that kind of thing.

Isn't this because there are no complete specimens?

Ahhh, that's a good point. I guess then it would be of whatever bone they're using as a stand-in. Or of a similar species if there isnt anything they are using as a temporary substitute.

So you need to figure out what the next closest dinosaur would be, then look for that dinosaur's anatomical diagrams.  ;)

A lot of the time I'm trying to look bones up, it's images of fossils im trying to study, so chances are, any bone I'm looking for an image of, is one that there's plenty of images of the fossils, reproductions, or at least drawings/diagrams of out there.

What pelvic bone are you looking for?

Ive been referring to the ilium, but I guess all 3 would be useful

This is what I meant by the generic side view. I want to see all sides of the bones. I never see any view of the ilium excepts this exact angle, and with the other 2, there's sometimes other views of the long extended "arm" on them, but never any good view, or even views at all that i can fine, of the base area where they connect.

thank you, this is a great picture, and is definitely the most helpful picture Ive come across. Sadly it doesn't show it from above, underneath, or the revers side:/

I was afraid of that. I think you're right:( I'm sure there actually are pictures, but I'll bet I'd never find them! They won't come up from any search i could think to do "spinosaurus skeleton" "--ilium" "--pelvic", etc:(

thanks very much for your help buddy, I can always count on your help with pretty much anything! Know that I really appreciate it!

Wow, I'm surprised they used an incomplete ilium for that display spino in the last picture! The back of it is missing. Don't they always make the display bones complete, despite how complete the real bones are found? ....if all the bones had even been found yet!

Those last two pictures are with a reconstructed complete ilium. Or at least their interpretation of the complete ilium.

The photo of FSAC-KK 11888 is the only known ilium of Spinosaurus as far as I know. At least the only described one.

This part right here--doesn't that look broken off to you? It definitely looks rough and unnatural to me. It doesn't really matter of course, I'm just really surprised that they seem to be using a broken bone on their display. Even if the real one of those found was broken, they could easily "fill in the blanks"

That's what I'm saying, as far as I know, they did fill in the blanks. No incomplete bones in the mount.

I don't know of this is of any help, but I once found this 3d model from the National Geographic Mounted skeleton, as I love spinosaurus I immediately saved it in my favorites.
It's in the link below miight give you a better look at the bone in 3d.

Very much so!

Maybe a tip!

You can try to contact John Mac, he is a paleoartist from the UK, he and his company make fossils replica's.

I know he made a life size spinosaurus skeleton. If you ask him I am sure he can send you pictures of which ever bone you want!

He as a facebook page called "Prehistoric Dinosaur Fossil Replicas" where you can contact him through, he has always very helpfull to me.

Overall it's really quite good and one of the better Spinosaurus skeleton models out there. But it has a number of inaccuracies when you look closer. The cervical and dorsal centra are all the wrong shape, especially the dorsal vertebrae are way too fat without the pinch in the middle. Specifically the dorsal vertebrae centra are a weird mistake to make as those have been known from the holotype for over a hundred years. The braincase looks nothing like that of a Spinosaurid and looks like it was modeled after a different type of theropod. the Articular on the jaw also looks like it's from a T. rex. And though I'm not completely sure, I think the actual mounted skeleton has a more tube-shaped rib cage.
