SarahM
Hi all! I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place (or if it's appropriate for this forum) but I'm trying to help my 91 year old granny identify an item she found on the beach many years ago and has pondered over ever since. She has always thought that it is a shark fetus, but of course has no reason other than speculation to reach this conclusion. Any help you could provide would be most appreciated! Boesse
This is a porcupine fish skeleton - those are the spines. If this is from NC, it is probably a striped burrfish (Chilomycterus schoepfi).
