All come from the Pottsville Formation. 1st plate consists of Mariopteris fern fronds, Fern Rachis, Peripteris leaf and Lepidostrobus cones. 5 2 WELCOME TO ALL THE NEW MEMBERS! I am personally a huge fan of hash plates, it reminds me that we are digging up an entire ecosystem full of diverse creatures, rather than isolated fossil finds. Didn't know that trinucleids, crinoids like that were found there. Do you know the IDs of the two brachiopods in the last photo of your first reply? They look quite interesting. Misha Posted February 27, 2022 Share Posted February 27, 2022 (edited) Reviving this topic is a great idea, I love plates with a variety of fossils, can really give you a sense of the ancient ecosystems they represent. Here are some of the ones I have found traded and purchased: This one is from the Ordovician Salona Fm. in PA, I like the variety of brachiopods on it, and the rock itself is quite unusual as you can see a very interesting weathering rind around the edge with strong contrast between it and the dark limestone matrix A hash plate with some beautiful Mucrospirifer arkonensis brachiopods on one side and tentaculitids on the other side which was sent to me by @Monica Some silurian ostracods from Pennsylvania, I believe they are Leperditia alta Bryozoa, brachiopods, crinoids from the Lower Devonian Kalkberg Fm. in New York Some fantastic brachiopods from St. Leon Indiana, generously sent to me by @connorp Also Ordovician Liberty Fm. but this time this is a pair of Lepidocyclus perlamellosum and a Strophomena sp. brachiopods from Ohio. Here is one of mine, I found it some time ago and I don't know which bryozoan species they belong to. 2 One fossil a day will keep you happy all day.
