westcoast
Hello all, I found this during the summer. It is from the Mississippian (Visean - Asbian/Brigantian) limestone of the Aran Islands off the west coast of Ireland. It is 2cm along the long axis. I Couldn't extract it so this is the only picture. Would love to hear your thoughts.
TqB
It looks like a worn through shark grinding tooth, something like Psammodus. Here's one with a 2cm long break showing a similar texture. Tarquin

westcoast
Thanks. Sadly I wasn't able to extract it at the time so its still there being battered by Atlantic storms. If I can, I'll try find it next time I'm there..
TNCollector
Yeah it is a very heavily worn Psammodus. Cool find.
