kirkjeremiah23
Thoughts on these trilobites from Morocco found on our favorite auction site. Is there any restoration? Has any part been carved or painted? Any I do is greatly appreciated!
Fossildude19
Aside from the extremely rough prep job, it looks pretty good to me. 1 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Walt
Nice Paralejurus...it looks like a bad prep job but some on other sites also look rough. I think it has something to do with the preservation? Seguidora-de-Isis
Typical Moroccan preparation with sandblasting. But they are definitely genuine trilobites. What I liked the most is that from the photos they do not appear to be painted in black, like most of the commercial examples we are used to seeing. Congratulations, they are beautiful specimens! By the way, the second specimen you showed is a trilobite of the specie: Crotalocephalus Gibbus. For comparison, here is a specimen that is deposited in my private collection: Is It real, or it's not real, that's the question!
Fitch1979
Both the Paralejurus and the Crotocephalos are 100% real .. should not be at the high end of prices since the prepping isn't really done by a master prepper ..
Tidgy's Dad
Yup, both real, I think, but the first one in particular has been poorly prepped. Second one is nicer, i think, and nice two-tone colour. 1 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
