autographcollector11
Any ideas? I’m stumped. Found on beach in Michigan.
Raggedy Man
Do you have any idea what beach or state? This info is important as different fossils or minerals are found on different beaches and states believe it or not. Different currents carry different material depending on the location. Though to me it looks like an eroded piece of quarts or another possibility could be melted glass. Can you post a picture of the other side not shown in your first post? ...I'm back. ynot
I agree that it looks more like a mineral deposit than a fossil. Better pictures may change that opinion. Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Will Rogers said: " Some of them didn't spring far enough." My Fossil collection - My Mineral collection My favorite thread on TFF. caldigger
I would say intrusive mineral vein that has weathered out of host rock.
Ludwigia
+1 for mineral vein. You could do the acid test. If vinegar bubbles, it's calcite, if not, its probably quartz. I’ve heard of petrified wood being found these. Does it look like that? Thanks

Sometimes a comparison to previously found pieces that have been identified as wood is the most practical way to tell. I have no experience in that area, but I can see it being a possibility.
