TomWhite Posted September 18, 2018 Share Posted September 18, 2018 My friend found this in the Red Crag at Bawdsey, Suffolk, unfortunately it fell apart upon retrieval. Is it a large fish Vertebra? Also found what looks like a small partial Meg down on the shingle, as well as a few other smaller teeth. I have also included a tooth that i found that is partially enclosed in rock, i have never found another like this. Any ideas on how it came to be? ynot Posted September 18, 2018 Share Posted September 18, 2018 First is a fragment of a shark tooth, not sure of the meg ID. Next is a fish vert. The last item looks like a scale weight. The partial tooth is Cosmopolitodus hastalis, and the other object is also a tooth, but with the root encased in a phosphatic nodule. They turn up quite often preserved like that in the Crag.
