fifbrindacier
Hi, i'd like to show you pieces i brang back from the Permian of Lodève, South of France. I believe those are Lebachiae, but i'd like to know if you agree. Thanks, Sophie. "On ne voit bien que par le coeur, l'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux." Tidgy's Dad
That's what they look like to me! Lebachia, or the like. Super finds, Sophie! Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.

Fossildude19
I respectfully disagree. They look more like Culmitzschia speciosa, and Culmitzschia goeppertiana, or Hermitia germanica. Coco
Sophie, I often tell the Americans that the foreigners don't know the size of their coins. Do you believe that they know how much measure 20 centimes of euros ? Could you give the size of your specimens ? Thanks for them ! Coco You're right Coco, i should have thought about this, the coin of 20 centimes of Euros is 2 centimeters wide ( 1 inch = 2,5 centimeters), that give an idea of the size of the spécimens, but i'll give their size more precisely if someone asks it. paleoflor
Nice to see material from the Lodève area. Regarding the walchian conifer remains, you might find the following paper useful: Visscher, Kerp and Clement-Westerhof (1986). Aspects of Permian palaeobotany and palynology VI. Towards a flexible system of naming Palaeozoic conifers. Acta Botanica Neerlandica 35(2), 87-99. It should be noted, however, that the classification proposed is one of two schools of thought, the other being proposed in: Mapes and Rothwell (1991). Structure and relationships of primitive conifers. Neues Jahrb Geol Palaeontol Abh 183, 269-287. Searching for green in the dark grey.

abyssunder
Nice finds! I like this one with beautiful dendritic growths. As it was determined from the Lodeve Basin paleosols, the black dendrites contain Mn, the brown ones Fe.
